Introducing your 2022 Board of Directors

Last month, we announced that we were seeking candidates for the second annual elections for CoCo leadership positions. We invited any CoCo member based in North America to run for election to the Board of Directors or the Executive Director position. We sent ballots to every CoCo member worldwide, numbering more than 300 people. I was the sole candidate running for Executive Director, and I was elected to continue to serve in that position for another year. (I was excited, though, to hear that others are interested in running for that position in future years!)

The candidates for Board of Directors brought faces both familiar and new to the CoCo’s leadership team. I extend a hearty congratulations and much gratitude to these leaders who have stepped up to steer our community to a brighter Scrabble future.

These five people form the 2022 CoCo Board of Directors, and we’re excited to see what they do! Mike and Pete ran for and were elected to one-year terms. Becky, Evans, and Steve ran for and won election to two-year terms. As with last year’s Board, this year’s Board brings a diverse set of skills and experience in public health, finance, event planning, marketing, and more. As the CoCo’s principal decision-making body, the Board represents you and your interests. That’s why every member of the Board (as well as the Executive Director) is elected by the full CoCo membership.

In the year to come, the Board will focus on building out the live tournament scene, growing our community, supporting the development of innovative technology tools, building our reputation internationally, and continuing to build the organization. Transparency from our leadership team and accountability to you are critically important principles. That’s why we publish the meetings from every board meeting, so that you can stay current on what the team is doing. Additionally, if you have ideas or initiatives that you’d like the Board to consider, you can contact the group at board@cocoscrabble.org.

Congratulations to the CoCo’s newly elected leadership team! Let’s get Scrabbling in the new year.
