Texas has a long history of state Scrabble championships, but to my knowledge, this is the first time we've crowned a Collins champion. It wound up being an intimate but high-level affair.

What do you do on the first beautifully crisp and sunny weekend of autumn? Well, if you're reading this, the answer is probably clear - you play Scrabble, of course!

Ten players, from as far away as Maryland and as close by as West Seattle, converged upon our home to duke it out over our dining room table for six games.

We're excited to announce that we're hosting the Texas CSW State Championship, coming up on Oct. 28 and 29, and the California Open, slated for the weekend of Dec. 8-10.

It was the most Biblical Texas CSW One-Day yet. Due to an episode of pestilence, we took refuge at our neighborhood brewery, Lazarus Brewing, which nourished our nine followers with coffee, tacos, and beer.

This event came together thanks to the efforts of Sammy Okosagah, who graciously offered to host a tournament at his home, and Rob Robinsky, who volunteered to direct. And it was a smashing success.

It's been an action-packed summer around the Scrabble world, with major tournaments happening all over. But with the fall equinox upon us soon, it's time to turn the page and look forward. There's a whole lot more Scrabble still to come.
