Introducing your new Board of Directors

In November, we announced that we were seeking candidates for our fifth annual leadership elections. Any CoCo member based in North America was invited to run for election to serve as either Executive Director or a member of the Board of Directors. Every CoCo member from all corners of the globe - nearly 400 people - was eligible to vote, and we sent them all ballots to let their voices be heard. Thanks if you are one of the many players who did your civic duty by voting in this year’s election!

Jennifer Clinchy ran for Executive Director and was elected to continue serving in that position for another year. This election cycle, we had three open seats on the board. We offer a warm congratulations to our newest board member, David Whitley. Peter Armstrong and Rob Robinsky were reelected to continue serving after their current terms expire at the end of this year. Two other board members - Randi Goldberg and Evans Clinchy - will continue to serve out their existing terms, having been elected to two-year terms last year.

I now present the 2025 CoCo Board of Directors:

Peter Armstrong

Evans Clinchy

Randi Goldberg

Rob Robinsky

David Whitley

Every board member serves a two-year term. David, Peter, and Rob will begin the first year of their new terms on Jan. 1, 2025, while Randi and Evans will continue into the new year.

As with our prior boards, this year’s board brings a great mix of skills and experience in a wide range of areas, including finance, communications, growth, directing, marketing, and more. As the CoCo’s principal decision-making body, the board represents you and your interests. That’s why every member of the board, as well as the Executive Director, is elected by the full CoCo membership.

One important task our incoming board will consider is how best to use the CoCo’s money. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, supporters, and Premium Members, the CoCo is the strongest position financially since our inception five years ago. Figuring out how to leverage those dollars strategically to have long-term impact in growing our membership and the tournament scene will be a key function for the new board. We have a lot of ideas for expanding our existing newcomer programs and launching new initiatives to build sustained interest in Collins Scrabble play. And our new board will help lead us there.

In the year to come, the board will also continue to work on building out ever more live tournaments, growing our community, spearheading new initiatives, fostering innovation, building new technology tools, and strengthening our reputation internationally.

This board is as committed to transparency as prior boards, and they will continue to publish summaries from every board meeting so that you can stay informed on what the CoCo is doing. If you have ideas or initiatives that you’d like the board to consider, you can contact the group at board@cocoscrabble.org. Thanks to all our leaders for contributing their time and energy to make the Scrabble community as vibrant as it can be.
