Previewing this weekend’s Oregon Scrabble Championship (OSC)

About seven months ago, we got a motley mix of Scrabblers together in scenic hipster Northeast Portland for a 2-day CoCo tournament. Much fun was had - highlights included anagrams, beer, food trucks, beer, a little bit of Scrabble, and beer. Also, we had some beer. The Portland-Alberta Beer Scrabble Thing (PABST) was a blue-ribbon success.

So I figured: Why not run it back? And this time, why not make it a little more interesting?

This weekend, we're playing for the Oregon Scrabble Championship (OSC). All the best players in the Beaver State, along with a few interlopers from neighboring states, will converge on NE PDX this Saturday and Sunday for a 14-game event. When it's over, we'll crown Oregon's one true champ (probably Dave Wiegand).

Back in the day, early May was a time for Oregon's most prestigious Scrabble tournament of the year. So now, in 2022, this is my offering to bring springtime Scrabble back to the PNW.

Let the OSC begin!
